Look at your NDR remarks: 'address incomplete', 'consignee unreachable', 'house locked'. Half of them aren't customers being difficult — they're addresses that were never deliverable. The address field is the cheapest RTO fix in e-commerce, and almost nobody spends an hour on it.
What a bad address looks like
Missing flat/house number, no landmark, wrong pincode matched to a different locality, phone that rings out or is switched off. Each is a different fix: format rules at checkout, pincode-locality validation, an OTP or confirmation message verifying the number.
The checkout-side fixes
Require house/flat number as its own field. Validate pincode against city — 'pincode 400001 but area says Andheri' is a flag, not a delivery. Phone-format validation and a confirmation WhatsApp at order time catch dead numbers before dispatch.
The human layer for the rest
Some addresses survive every check and still fail — rural, new layouts, landmark-only localities. A pre-dispatch WhatsApp 'confirming delivery address' message takes seconds and converts ~half the address NDRs into delivered orders.
The compounding effect
Every bad address you fix before dispatch is one less RTO (₹130), one less NDR chase, one less customer who 'never got it'. At 200 COD orders a month, address hygiene alone is commonly worth 3–6 RTO points.
Pakka Parcel automates exactly this — the pipeline from order to AWB without the manual steps.

Split address fields at checkout
House/flat + street + landmark as required fields.
Validate pincode vs city
A mismatch flag catches the worst errors.
Send a confirmation WhatsApp
Dead numbers surface before dispatch, not at the door.
Call before RTO
One call on NDR day rescues a shipment every time it's tried.
